Indigenous Nursing Scholarship recipient Isla Whitby

Indigenous Nursing Scholarship recipient Isla Whitby

At Mediserve, we are passionate about supporting Indigenous health. The Second Home Scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to complete their university education at Curtin University by covering their accommodation costs.

We are very thankful to Curtin University for giving us the opportunity to provide scholarships for our future nurses, particularly Indigenous nurses.

The recipient of the scholarship, Isla Whitby, is an exceptional person who cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of her people. We are convinced she will be a skilled and compassionate nurse for both the Aboriginal people and for the community as a whole.

Miles, Mediserve's Director, had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Isla at the scholarship ceremony to speak with her, understand her goals and aspirations and to know that scholarships can make a difference.

Isla's statement for the Scholarship Board reflects her compassion and gratitude:

"I want to give back to my people and the Aboriginal community. I am very grateful and thanks to you I am one step closer to my goals."

We wish Isla all the best in her studies and future as a nurse.
